International Conference on Nanotechnology at KAAU Saudi Arabia
22 June 2008King Abdulaziz University (KAAU), Saudi Arabia organized a conference on Nanotechnology recently and the conference was inaugurated by Dr. Khaled Al Anqari, Higher Education Minister of Saudi Arabia. While inaugurating the conference the minister said that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia has accepted to become the honorary president of Saudi Society of Nanotechnology.
Higher Education Minister, Dr Al Anqari appreciated the efforts of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, who is also the custodian of the holy Mosques, for supporting research in nanotechnology. King Abdullah has already provided support for three nanotechnology research centers in Saudi Arabia including one at KAAU.
The conference highlighted some of the major issues and concerns for the nanotechnology research and 100 research papers were discussed during the conference. More than 500 delegates and experts attended the conference and some of the distinguished speakers were from United States, China, India, Japan, Italy, South Korea, Russia, Bulgaria, Britain etc.
Dr. Sami Habeeb, who is currently director of nanotechnology Centre at King Abdulaziz University (KAAU) highlighted the center’s effort for achieving sustained growth in this area and the director is also optimistic about creating more progress and jobs in near future.
