Nanotechnology Initiatives in Pennsylvania
28 March 2007The governor of the state has already announced the commonwealth support of $11.1 million to the world-renowned researchers and scientists of the state so that they can find more human and environmental friendly application of nanotechnology. The state has already launched Pennsylvania Initiatives for Nanotechnology so that the new and promising areas of application of nanotechnologies are well researched. The state has so far received a federal support of $63 million to start nanotechnology related program.
The governor of the state of Pennsylvania has already informed that Ben Frankline Technology Development Authority (BFTDA) has approved the fund from its university program to support the Pennsylvania Initiatives for Nanotechnology. BFTDA is dedicated to foster and strengthen the technology initiatives. BFTDA is funded by state and support the technology initiatives throughout Pennsylvania.
The BFTDA has so far allocated fund to various institutes and university research centers in different counties. Pennsylvania Nanomaterial Commercial Center in Allegheny County has already received $1 million for supporting commercialization of nanomaterials and manufacturing processes. The BFTDA has allocated $2.6 million to the Pennsylvania State University for developing partnership.
The Pennsylvania State University has also been allotted $2.5 million for research and commercialization projects in nanotech areas. The prime areas of the university includes research in chemical nanofabrication and molecular nanotechnology. Lehigh University in Northampton County has also received fund for support initiatives in nanophotonics technology.
