Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology got new investment
25 June 2008Investment in nanotechnology is continuously growing and even smaller countries are also making investment in this area. Recently the Board of Investments (BOI), Sri Lanka has awarded a project with the investment of US $ 4.2 million to Sri Lanka Institute of nanotechnology to undertake research and development in the area of Nanotechnology.
The aim of the research is to provide export oriented manufacturing and value addition. The project is sponsored by a number of agencies and these are National Science Foundation, Brandix Lanka, Hayleys PLC, Loadstar Dialog Telekom and MAS Holdings. The agreement was signed by Ashroff Omar of Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology and A.N.R. Amartunga of Ministry of Science and Technology.
In addition to the research in the field of nanotechnology, another six projects proposals of US $ 15.5 million investments in the field of hospitals was also signed. These will provide the latest class medical facilities equipped with modern operating theatre and world-class intensive care units.
