Nanotechnology helps in improving visibility through glass
13 June 2008nanotechnology has been used in improving visibility through car windscreen especially during rain of fog. Nanotec has developed a unique nanomaterial, which is transparent and creates water repellant and non stick glass surface. the windscreen and window glasses treated with this nanomaterials significantly improves visibility.
This nanomaterial was tested in extreme weather conditions in Eastern Canada and with the normal car use, this material was found effective up to 80,000 kilometer. With improved visibility through windows and windscreen, the accidents especially during rain can be minimized up to a great extent. This will not only save property loss but a large number of lives will also be saved.
This nanomaterial can also be used for protecting other exterior glass surfaces such as external mirrors, glass headlights and sunroofs. It has a great affinity towards glass surfaces and it form a chemical bond to the glass surface. As it forms a non-stick surface that’s why dirt, dust and other foreign material can easily be removed.
